The Gannon’s

Maria and Mitch got hitched. Thanks Mr. & Mrs. Gannon for choosing the most opportune time in my life to get married. May 26, 2019 — a day full of beauty, the sacraments, long walks on the beach, and Mitch’s techno dance that truly popped off. My friends became one and are literally bound to one another until death do them part. I’m sorry, but what?

We’re like a sorority or something

This weekend in May also happened to be my personal favorite because I had the fortune of reunion with my very best friends. Chapter TM had a different agenda this time. Rachel, Lindsey, and I are now the non-married women of chapter. The comfort of being with my friends has sent me back to Maryland eager and strengthened to do my work as the Lord has called me. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that post-Florida-vibes have sent me into a downward spiral too. I just miss my friends, okay?

Event Season

To all of my faithful fans, you will recall that I had a patent event coming up. That happened and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office spoke on the importance and progress towards a patent system that values the creations of innovators.

The women

Looking ahead, our organization just wrapped up our collegians summit. Three days of congressmen, senators, the Senate and Trump Hotel, Capitol tour and standing in both the Congress chamber and the Speaker’s Balcony (where Pope Francis addressed the people!). We also got to spend time in the National Archives viewing the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. It absolutely fires me up to see the founding documents and to be reminded that

“WE THE PEOPLE of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

School of Community

It fills me with great joy to announce that I have friends! Apparently there’s this Movement called “Communion and Liberation” — CL for short. It consists of reading and personal meditation on a proposed book (we are reading The Religious Sense). Website describes it as this:

It is an education that doesn’t end at a certain age, but lasts a lifetime because it is always being renewed and deepened. The same is true of the Gospel, which reveals new discoveries even after we’ve heard it a thousand times. The same is true in the experience of love, of artistic creativity, and even in the simplicity of everyday life. The search for what is true, beautiful, and good, and for happiness is never-ending. This is Christianity: the adventure of life, not a kind of training for life.

I have been living under a rock for 22 years, but have been appreciative to stumble upon this Movement born in the Archdiocese of Milan. I mention this quote from the CL because I think it depicts what I am trying to describe — our meetings consist of CUA professors, PhD students, graduate students, interns (me!), and undergraduate students. This variation allows conversation and reflection to absolutely blow my mind. I have learned so much from them to say the least.

Take me to church

One Sunday, Rachel and I ventured to Annapolis for Sunday mass, coffee, and the Naval Academy. Did anyone know Annapolis was the capitol of MD? I have definitely drank the Baltimore kool-aid. Anyways, in Annapolis resides St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Thank you Lord for the preservation of Gothic beauty.

St. Joseph’s is still kickin’ it. They have this nifty mass time of 12:10pm every day, so most days I have a lunch date with Jesus.

Today, actually, I did this super adult thing and went to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Most Reverend Bishop Emeritus Paul Loverde celebrated mass for us and delivered a great homily on Trinity Sunday. He spoke of the great importance of relationship among the Divine Three Persons and relationships as they pertain to us personally. We were made to discover the beauty in relationship with others, as our Trinitarian Love depicts. Crystal clear as to what I am seeking here in D.C. and beyond throughout my life.
